With the next generation of web-enabled smart phones, increasingly -- and perhaps more often than not -- you're reaching your customer via the web or SMS text messaging at some remote location. It's now more critical than ever that your messaging and branding is consistent and has impact over multiple platforms simultaneously.
Why? The size of the mobile market and the opportunity to reach customers using mobile marketing for business is huge and still relatively untapped. According to CTIA at the end of 2008 there were over 270 million cell phone subscribers in the U.S. That’s nearly 2.11 cell phones per household and is well above the average number of computers per household today.
Of the 270 million cell phones in the U.S., over 240 million of them are using SMS text-enabled phones, and are texting to the tune of 75 billion text messages a month (over 300 per month per SMS-enabled phone). By the end of 2008, over 63 million cell users also used the internet on their cell phone for news and information. These statistics are up a staggering 71% from the year prior.
